The Banishment
The Drop is the event that ended the old world and began the current story. A demi-god of the old world — deliberately unnamed, the mystery staying open for later episodes — sent Uaellaen and his companions through The Threshold into the unknown universe.
Who Was Sent
- Uaellaen — the narrator. The one who was sent.
- Wreckreate — his closest friend in magic. Sent to the same universe.
- Rumzuck Umbatsch — his brother. Sent to the same universe.
- Smackage — his closest friend. Sent to the same universe.
- Uuaellaen — his blood brother, the archon. Sent to the same universe.
- Zahlia — the great enchantress. Sent to the same universe.
All six. The entire inner circle. Sent to the same universe, through the Threshold, by a demi-god whose name Uaellaen does not know. Together they became the first The Forgotten — the party that has been adventuring through the new world from the start.
What Is Known
- The act was deliberate. The demi-god chose to send them.
- The demi-god is from the old world.
- The Threshold is the mechanism.
- They all arrived in the same universe, and most of them arrived together.
- One or two landed elsewhere — a split the story closes later. Where the stragglers landed is the first question of the current story.
What Is Not Known
- Who the demi-god is (the identity is a deliberate open mystery)
- Why they did it
- Whether the demi-god sent them to protect them, punish them, or use them
- Whether the Threshold can be reopened
- Whether the old world still exists
"They did not kill me. That is the part that keeps me up. Killing would have been an ending. This is a question. And I have been asked questions before. I do not like them. I do not like that I was asked. I do not like that I am still here to answer." — Uaellaen
In the Story
The Drop is the hinge. Everything before it is backstory. Everything after it is the story. The current narrative begins in the unknown universe, with Uaellaen and his companions — most of them together, one or two somewhere else. The first episode will answer where the stragglers landed. The rest of the story will answer why.
"I was dropped. That is the word. Not cast. Not sent. Dropped. Like something that was no longer needed in one place and might be needed in another. I am the something. And I am in the another. And I am not finished." — Uaellaen
