Relationship with Remedy
Legacy of Steel and Remedy were rivals — competing for contracts, prestige, and influence. But the rivalry was not bitter. Tigole and Remedy's leader maintained a professional respect. When Remedy made their greatest act — the raid on Morthane, the Lord of Fear — Legacy of Steel's warriors held the line so the raiders could reach the god's court. Rivalry, in that hour, became a kind of honor.
The fall of Remedy ended the rivalry. Tigole mourned the loss of his rival — and his friend.
Status
Legacy of Steel survived Remedy's fall, but the guild never recovered its former glory. Tigole's leadership became more isolated as the guild's purpose shifted from protection to survival.
Membership
Legacy of Steel was an army of warriors and artisans — discipline over spectacle, the anvil as close to a god as the guild got. Its members were the people the cold kept: smiths, cutters, line-holders, and the rarer breed who could do both. Tigole led it the way a halfling leads anything — from the front, and from the quiet end.
The guild's one recorded hour of glory was the line it held for Remedy during the raid on Morthane, the Lord of Fear: Legacy of Steel's warriors stood the line so the raiders could reach the god's court. Rivalry, in that hour, became a kind of honor — the one story the two guilds told together. After The Fall of Remedy the guild survived, and its purpose shifted from protection to survival, and the shift is the whole of its later history.
