What It Is
A warhammer of honest iron, the oak haft, the head that has been stood against — the hammer of the heart, the one that keeps the company human. The head is the answer to the argument, and the argument is the one Smackage has not stopped smiling through.
The Making
Made by the ogre smiths, the way the ogre smiths make everything: the refusal to let go. The maker's mark is on the poll, and the poll is the part that takes the blow so the haft does not — which is the whole point, and the whole reason the hammer is the one that keeps the company human.
Tier: journeyman · Damage/Role: blunt · Held by: Smackage
On the ladder in The Maker's Hand, this is a journeyman — the tier it is, and the tier is the one the maker owes.
In Stories
The hammer is the one the camp laughs with: the strongest thing about Smackage is not the hammer, it is the refusal to ever stop smiling, and the hammer is the smile made iron. When the hammer comes down, the company is still the company — the smile is the one who is still standing.
