What It Is
An ogre kite shield, the iron band, the oak face — the shield that has never been the one who is hit. The boss is the point that takes the blow so the hand does not, and the hand is the one that has never let go.
The Making
Made by the ogre smiths, the way the ogre smiths make everything: the refusal to let go, in iron and oak. The maker's mark is not on it — the maker's mark is the ogre who has been stood against it, and the ogre is still here.
