Spell

Reaveil

Light · Circle 3 — The name, taken back — the light reveals what the dark took, and the taking back is the whole argument, and the name is the one the camp has to read.

What It Does

The name, taken back — the light reveals what the dark took, and the taking back is the whole argument, and the name is the one the camp has to read. It is the light school's answer to the dark school's nameless dark: the dark takes the name, and the light gives the name back, and the name is the one the line holds.

The Cost

Circle 3 · Light · Exchange: breath — casting time one round. On the ladder in The Veil, the breath rung is the price.

The Failure

The light holds the name a beat too long, and the light keeps the tension — the name is taken back, and the name is the one who is not the name that was taken.

In Stories

The journeyman's light spell; the one the camp casts when the name is the argument and the light is the one who has to give it back.

The door's scale anchor is Luminary — the dragon casts it without thinking, which is how a reader learns the shape of the thing.
