What It Does
A limb, frozen in the shape the hand held — the water finds the gap and the gap is the limb, and the limb is the one who is still standing, and the standing is the one who has to wait. It is the freeze at the edge, and the edge is the whole argument.
The Cost
Circle 2 · Water · Exchange: breath — casting time one round. The Exchange is the breath rung on the ladder in The Veil: the spell costs exactly as much as the spell is, and the meter pays the budget, not the cost.
The Failure
The ice holds the shape, and the shape is not the one the hand sent — the limb is frozen, and the limb is the one who is already the one who is standing.
In Stories
The journeyman's water spell; the one the camp casts when the limb is the argument and the standing is the one who has to wait.
The door's scale anchor is Tidecaller, who casts it the way a hand casts a shadow — which is how a reader knows the shape of the thing, because the dragon does not think about it.
