Overview
Omnath is the god of knowledge, prophecy, and record. Every book in her library is a life already ended, and she reads tomorrow's pages aloud, and the reading is the faith. She does not know the future — she records it, and the recording is the knowing, and the knowing is the library, and the library is Omnath.
Domain
Knowledge, prophecy, record, memory.
Appearance
The avatar is 5'6" of ashen-white skin, a long braid of grey that reaches to the waist and is always being rewritten — the color changes, the length changes, the braid is current. Her eyes are two deep blue ink pools, and her fingers are stained black with ink that is not ink — it is record, and the record is the stain, and the stain is the hand, and the hand is the god. Her true form is a library with no end, and the library is reading, and the reading is the god.
Plane: The Library of Ends
Every book is a life already ended. The shelves go up and do not stop going up. The god reads tomorrow's pages aloud, and the reading is not a prediction — it is a record, and the record is the point, because a prediction can be wrong, but a record cannot, and the Library is made of records, and the records are the god. Things that enter uninvited leave with a page they did not know they had written, and the page is good, and the page is theirs, and it is already ended, and the ending is the harvest.
Minions & Avatars
The Observers serve as its recorders. The erudite keep its work in the world — the scholars who do not pray, they file. Deep ones keep the pressure-memory cult; crow men keep the carrion-record. Its avatar manifests as a page turning in an empty room, a word you almost remember reading, a fact you know that you cannot explain knowing.
Faith
Recorders and prophets serve it. The holy symbol is an open book — the pages are the record, the spine is the life, and the cover is the ending, and the ending is the point. Heresy is a burned record, which in the Library is the only sin that has a physical location, which is a book that will not open, and it stays closed, and the god remembers.
Relations
Trades with Vessurax, the Veiled Eye, who brings secrets as records, and the trade is the point, because a secret is a record with a lock, and the lock is the value. Feeds Korrath, the Fang the knowledge of the hunt, which is to say: provides the map. Neutral to all the rest, which is to say: files them, and the filing is the neutrality.
Notable Servants
- The Observers are its recorders; the rest are its pages.
