What It Does
A wall of flame, raised in a line and held. It is the argument that the line does not cross — the fire stands where the hand says it stands, and the fire does not move, and the fire is the one who is still standing.
The Cost
Circle 2 · Fire · Exchange: breath — casting time one round. The Exchange is the breath rung on the ladder in The Veil: the spell costs exactly as much as the spell is, and the meter pays the budget, not the cost.
The Failure
The wall holds the shape, and the shape is not the one the hand sent — the fire stands in the gap, and the gap is the one the line was meant to cross.

The siege spell of the fire school; the one the camp casts when the ground gives out and the line has to hold.
The door's scale anchor is Ignathar, who casts it the way a hand casts a shadow — which is how a reader knows the shape of the thing, because the dragon does not think about it.
