Spell

Stone Fist

Earth · Circle 3 — A fist of the ground, raised and let go where the hand says — the weight is the whole argument, and the fist does not cut, and the fist does not flow, and the fist is the one who lands.

What It Does

A fist of the ground, raised and let go where the hand says — the weight is the whole argument, and the fist does not cut, and the fist does not flow, and the fist is the one who lands. It is the earth school's answer to the fire school's flame lash: the fist does not reach, the fist arrives.

The Cost

Circle 3 · Earth · Exchange: breath — casting time one round. On the ladder in The Veil, the breath rung is the price, and the meter pays the budget while the exchange pays the spell.

The Failure

The fist leaves the hand shaped, and the shape is not the one the hand sent — the fist lands, and the fist lands on the one who is already the wall.

In Stories

The journeyman's earth spell; the one the camp casts when the weight is the argument and the landing is the one who has to decide.

The door's scale anchor is Stonewrought — the dragon casts it without thinking, which is how a reader learns the shape of the thing.
