Alchemy (Advanced: Antidotes)

Alchemy (Advanced: Antidotes) — the the recipe; the antidote — the venom's answer.

The Line

the dark-elf alchemists and the serpent-folk distillers, crossed

The Recipe

Inputs: Venom-Bladder, Poison-Culture, Silver, the distiller's season Output: the antidote — the venom's answer, the poison's answer Time: a season for the antidote — the wait is the whole argument

The advanced alchemy is the crossing of the two doors: the venom is the delivery, the poison is the terms, and the antidote is the one who answers both. It is the serpent-folk's signature — the only line that measures a wound in doses — and the dose is the one the story has to be about.

The recipe is the knowledge, and the knowledge is the one the guild charges for — on the ladder in The Maker's Hand, the recipe is the middle leg: the world gives the material, the maker knows the recipe, and the item is what the maker owes.
